    Description

African American black lady is a 4 1/2" all wooden "Wilson Walkies" ramp walker that was designed by John Wilson and handmade by craftsmen in Watsontown PA circa the 1930's-1940's.
She is stamped on the bottom of her left foot, "Made in USA  Pat. Pending."
She remains in sturdy condition and her wooden legs still "walk" well.
Her face is a bit more unusual with its "intaglio" painted white eyes, an applied wooden nose, and a carved open mouth that is painted red.
Her clothing remains in fairly bright and crispy condition, though the front of her dress sustains a couple of whitish glue (?) spots.
Her wood sustains areas of light paint loss and flakes, more notably around her nose & ankles and along the backs of her arms.  She could use a dusting.  Interestingly, ramp walker comes with a paper tag that reads "Feb. 1938 Florida Mummie."  I suspect that mother gave this doll as a gift to her young doll collector daughter in 1938.  Charming!
PLEASE study the photos carefully and email with all questions! My photos detail her condition accurately. Though I have tried to provide an honest and detailed description, I may have omitted information that is important to you. I have also provided photos that "speak volumes.
