Vintage 5.5" European Jointed Wooden Doll Painted Features Dollhouse 1930s-on

Description

Wooden doll is a 5 1/2" vintage artist doll with a wooden head, wooden lower arms, and wooden legs detailed with painted black shoes (flaking) that are attached to a solidly stuffed cloth torso.  She appears to be European in design (possibly Erzgebirge) and is most likely from Germany.  I suspect that she may have been handcrafted circa the 1930s-on.  Her face is simply painted with blue dotted eyes, round rosy cheeks, and a red mouth posed in a sweet smile.  She has not been given a nose.  A portion of her face has darkened and may be remnants of a varnish or lacquer.  Her flax hair is braided in a coil around her head and nailed into her scalp.  Wooden doll wears a hand sewn black dress detailed with an attached silk apron (melting), a silk bodice scarf, and white panties.  She is an appealing doll that is reminiscent of the Hildegard Krahmer dolls in her simple facial treatment.  Wooden doll looks like a maid in  her black and white costuming and may be perfectly sized for a dollhouse.
